About the Transfer Program

Transfer to your saved spot at a four-year university.

An Associate Degree for Transfer (also referred to as ADT) is a special degree offered through the California Community Colleges that gives you the opportunity to save time and money by guaranteeing you a saved spot at many four-year universities in California. The Associate Degree for Transfer makes it easier for students like you to transfer between a California community college and CSUUC, Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCU), Western Governors University (fully online university) or participating independent, non-profit colleges in California (member institutions of AICCU). In most cases with this degree, you have the opportunity to complete two degrees with only 120 units if you apply and are admitted into a similar major or degree program to earn your bachelor’s degree.

When you complete an Associate Degree for Transfer, you may be given an admission advantage when applying to impacted campuses or majors.

The best part of the deal? When you earn one of these degrees, you’ll transfer to a university with junior standing. When you are admitted to a program that has been deemed similar, you will, in most cases, require only 60 more semester units (or 90 quarter units) to complete a bachelor's degree.

This website is designed to explain the guarantee and help you identify the path that's right for you. To get started on your Associate Degree for Transfer, or for more information, check out a community college website, or visit a counseling office to learn about how the transfer program can help you achieve your education goals.
